Beyond the expected: our journey with Bernedoodles

In the world of puppies, sometimes things happen out of the ordinary. You have to think on the spot and make the best of complicated situations. We invite you to know us better and learn what other things happen in the world of dogs, fostering a better connection to us here at Bernedoodles of Wales and our commitment to every single one of our puppies and others.

A tale of resilience: rehoming an abandoned puppy

We recently faced a situation that truly tested our dedication. An imported puppy was tragically abandoned only 23 hours after going to his new family. Without hesitation, we first tried to assist but had to step in and rescued him, providing the love and care he deserved, We found him a truly forever home. This story highlights our promise: our dogs and your dogs, They deserve nothing but the best.

Marley

Marley (new name) arrived with his sister from Belfast, He was first to be delivered and on arrival the family seemed smitten.

23 Hours later this 8 week old baby was threatened with the prospect of been given to anyone who would take him immediately.

Feeling a connection to this boy because we had his sibling, I agreed to pay for him if they would hold him until I could make the 10 hour round trip, So eager where they to have him gone, They chose to drive him to me for no charge and wanted to set off immediately. Making his arrival at 2am.

All of this drama was simply because he was too big and I stress here the importance of doing your homework.

In my humble opinion the clue is in the name!

Without question we took Marley and treated him as our own, Giving boundaries, Guidance and routine.

They had immediately tried to switch his food, This gave him a very upset stomach and it was something avoidable and unnecessary.

I also arranged his vaccinations and a vet health check before he left us for a new home, Non of this I had to do but I felt was the right thing to do.

Lots of families offered homes and above all else I stressed to each family that what was important now was consistency and stability.

I believe you get a feeling when talking to people, Something in your gut pulls you towards a family and in this case it was the Leslie Family.

They asked questions about his welfare, his back story, his health and understood my fears for Marley being passed around further.

When they collected him you could see the love and joy, It was a thought out decision, an I truly believe he will have a home for life with their 4 beautiful children.

I provided them with everything they might need to get off to a good start, Bag of Food, puppy pads, toys, A carrier and treats, Things familiar to him.

Marley was not bred by me, I stepped up because no puppy deserves to be treated like a throw away possession, We enjoyed his company for a week and he settled very fast.

We wish Marley the very best and are Grateful to the Leslie Family for promising to love and protect him.

March 2026.
